What breed of dog should our next president get?

This topic seems to be generating a lot of buzz on news channels and over the web. Some news organizations even have polls up asking readers to choose what type of dog President-Elect Obama should choose for the first family.

“This is a major issue,” Obama deadpanned at his first press conference as president-elect. “We have two criteria that have to be reconciled. One is that Malia is allergic, so it has to be hypoallergenic. There are a number of breeds that are hypoallergenic. On the other hand, our preference would be to get a shelter dog. But obviously, a lot of shelter dogs are mutts, like me. So whether we're going to be able to balance those two things, I think, is a pressing issue on the Obama household.”

Our director of operations recently got a hypoallergenic puppy of his own, the mixed-breed (Golden Retriever/Poodle) Golden Doodle. The dog is so cute and well-behaved we've decided to campaign for the Golden Doodle as "first dog."

What breed do you think the Obamas should chose?
